Happy 2009 everybody! 5mins just before the clock hits 12:00, the Auckland Sky Tower was not lit at all, instead some few red lights strobing in the dark. Cars were horning, people were screaming, encore everywhere! As it turns midnight, the fireworks display commence and everybody were enjoying the fire in the sky.

This was 5mins before countdown, quickly grabbed my DSLR and put in on BULB mode, my very first attempt with fireworks photography, turned out not too bad! I like pretty lights *_*

Apologies for the blurriness, I wish I had a remote to keep the shutter open without moving, I was barely breathing for many intervals.

It barely lasted for 5 minutes, but it is still a great way to start the new year! 2009 HERE I COME !

Note: By the way this was shot from an apartment in Lighter Quay, before midnight we were playing Mahjong eating Korean food, rather than being out on the streets getting drunk and contributing traffic. After the fireworks, we continued playing Mahjong *LoL*

More variations! Mind you, the tower is very blurry, could not focus to infinity when put on Manual, so had to use Auto I guess it is because of Sky Tower not being lit, there is nothing to focus on that far, except that ledge (which is Westin Hotel).

What are your new year resolutions? I am still thinking bout mine.
